Finding film
While rummaging through an antique shop I stumbled across an Olympus OM20 camera it was pretty grubby but looked in good working condition, so I decided it was worth buying as I’m a massive fan of my Olympus trip with its ease of use and reliability.
Upon opening the camera I discovered a half used roll of Kodak Gold 400 film, instantly I had to know what was on the film if anything just to get a glimpse into someone’s life who owned the camera before me.
As I didn’t want to pay to get it developed Incase there was nothing on the film I decided to develop it in black and white (which you can read more about on my post about stand developing) after developing the photos there was probably about 6 images that could be seen however they were very over exposed, whether that was how the photos were taken or due to the developing process losing the colours.
I found it fascinating seeing these images, they were just your standard holiday and wedding photos but so intriguing to think about the lives of those in the photos, where were they taken, who are the people in the photos and why were they never developed the deep dive into the past was so fun.
Sometimes the best part of film is the nostalgia it gives so finding photos just adds to that nostalgia giving us a window into someone else’s life but also this led me to research the film, it seems the photos may have been taken between 1997 and 2007 after this the gold 400 was rebranded as the Kodak Ultramax.
I want to share these images to show what was found
(but a quick disclaimer, I did not take these images, if anyone in these images wishes them to be taken down please contact me and they will be removed)
